We
must heal these children!
The memories and experiences children carry with them
into adulthood will profoundly influence the kind of parents they become. In
Northern Uganda far too many childhood memories are dark and full of violence,
war and loss. In order to break the patterns of societal violence, it is
urgent that children affected by these extremes start to experience that life
can be different, and that they learn the skills they need to live as
productive adult members in a peaceful society.
The LiA 4 Kids program pursues a variety of uplift
strategies designed to help children discover their passions and plan for
their future, with an awareness of their own power to make good things happen
in the world around them. |

-
School Fees
2008 is a campaign to raise funds to educate 200 orphans who are
dependent on Life in Africa households. In the context of war and
HIV/AIDS, almost every family is responsible for children who are not
their own. Assistance with ensuring these children go to school has been
identified as the community's top priority as 2008 begins.
- Life 4 Kids Club members come to Life in
Africa WE Centers on Saturdays for a nutritious lunch plus an afternoon
of global citizenship-building club activities, including music dance &
drama, internet4change, entrepreneurship & savings, craft activities,
leadership, child-to-child dialogue, and counseling. Children sponsored
through Life in Africa's school fees 2008 program are automatically
enrolled to make sure we keep in regular contact with them. Members pay
shs. 1,000/mo. per child for their other children to participate.
(Additional details coming to this space in 2008.)
- Holiday Life eXperiences - Life 4 Kids
club members have 3 opportunities per year to travel away from home to
partake in uplifting and creative community activities and
cross-cultural learning experiences. (Additional details coming to
this space in 2008.)
Please join us in
discussion about the LiA 4 Kids program as we continue to finalize the
2008 program details. |
