4 Football needs your help to clothe and equip
football teams for children in Northern Uganda!
With support from
UNICEF, The
Kids League is starting soccer leagues for
children in Gulu, Kitgum, and the internally displaced
people's camps of Northern Uganda.
To appreciate the
special significance of this fantastic initiative, you
should understand that the kids in these camps have
really been through the worst that our world has to
offer to a child's life. |
Many
are former LRA abductees wh were forced
into combat; others are night commuters
who travel from the villages to town each
evening to sleep in safety. Others
have lived their entire lives in
Internally Displaced Peoples' (IDP) Camps

is a tragic struggle for power involving
children, who are used as pawns for
military and political purposes. They
are abused; they are manipulated; and by
most, they are pitied, then
ignored." article
The
chance to play soccer like a normal kid is
more valuable than any money these kids
may ever see in their lifetimes. There has
been an absolutely overwhelming response
in the North, especially in the IDP Camps.
However, there is a simple yet important
urgent problem the project faces. The
kids in the camps do not have any clothing
at all to play in.
At LiA, we
think this is a problem too simple to be
ignored.

the Fashion 4 Football Campaign!
The Fashion
4 Football campaign's objectives are to
educate people around the world about this
special initiative, build global
solidarity with the children of northern
Uganda, and get those kids dressed to play
ball!

Future of Fashion 4 Football
Because the
need is so great in Northern Uganda, and The Kids League is there to
stay for a while, Fashion 4 Football is a long term campaign. It will continue to evolve and grow in 2005 and
beyond with a number of innovative community-based and online
participatory activities and fashion events to help promote global
solidarity with the children of Northern Uganda, and to collect used
clothing and footballs from all over the world for the The Kids League
children to practice with.
Unless you
see otherwise on this page, the Fashion 4 Football Campaign is still
underway, so please do what you can to help!
If

thing,
we can get those kids dressed and ready to play
in no time! The Kids League is an absolutely
wonderful program, and like Life in Africa, is
