Life
in Africa's Internet4Change program coordinates a combination of member
content creation, peer reporting and volunteer verification of Life in Africa
funded program activities, with a focus on the impact of the virtual
activities and campaigns you participate in on the real lives of our members.
In 2008 and beyond, the i4c program team is
striving to set new standards for providing transparent, relevant and engaging
information to global supporters about what's happening as a result of your
intended impact. To achieve this, we're undertaking a number of program-level
activities.
- i4c Basics provides adults and
children with internet skills for connecting with friends and supporters in
safe online community settings. i4c trainees also work with Life in Africa
members offline to develop community blogs on
subjects ranging from cooking and traditions, to local views on global
political issues. Trainees learning to search present information about
topics of interest to the community that they have learned from global
sources online.
- i4c Micro-Success combines the
Internet with microfinance to prepare online applications for
grassroots-funded, LiA community-guaranteed micro-loans. Virtual
volunteer editors are needed to help the i4c
Micro- Success team create Ugandan borrower stories and business plan
descriptions that make sense to a global audience. Supporters can also lend
to Life in Africa members through a number of financing platforms online.
- i4c Agent Training & Certification
creates a network of mobile skilled agents who travel to member homes,
attend program events, and work with program coordinators to collect
information that's published in unique monthly program reports online. Each
monthly i4c program report includes updated program fundraising and budget
details, stories about the lives of participating members, community event
reports with pictures, and continued opportunities for you to participate
interactively online.
- i4c Volunteers
spend anywhere from 2 days to 3 months with Life in Africa (pre-arranged in
advance) to help with ongoing member interviews and surveys, and to provide
training in global communication skills.
