So what's happening to all the clothes??!

The play clothes and footballs collected by Life in Africa and The Kids League through the Fashion 4 Football campaign is being delivered to the IDP Camps in Northern Uganda where the football leagues are active, one camp at a time as our campaign carries on.

See the photos of each camp as we reach them in the space below.

Palenga Camp

The first Fashion4Football collection of clothing, mostly from the families of Kabira International School Uganda, was delivered on 27 November 2004 to children at Palenga Camp.

There were enough items of clothing to give each TKL child 1 piece each.

Mukwano Industries (Uganda) graciously contributed 2 cases of laundry soap to the the children who received the clothes.

It was decided that the girls should get the shorts, since playing in their long skirts was proving a problem. The next day they were leaping across the field, giving the boys a tough time!

Still proud to be Ugandan

Everyone got something, whether it was a pair of shoes, shorts, or a shirt. The prize of the day was the Uganda jersey shown above!

THANK YOU to all the Kabira families who gave clothing, and especially to new parent Anne Bjella who mobilized clothing donations from Norway!

These boys have had a tough life
Let's run together instead of fight together
A boy's life in Northern Uganda

One night, "Innocent" was abducted from his home by soldiers of the Lords Resistance Army (LRA). The rebels beat his parents badly when they tried to prevent the abduction. For 3 long years Innocent was held captive by the LRA and bore witness to atrocious acts of violence.

He cries as he recites his LRA experiences, but life has also not been easy since his escape. He is often ridiculed and taunted by neighbors within the IDP Camp who call him a ‘rebel’. Many of the other children avoid him as he is seen as being ‘bad’.

Innocent is now 14 and plays for the Senior Red Team in Unyama IDP Camp where he resides with his parents. He tells us that when he is playing football he doesn't feel isolated anymore. He feels like he is making friends and can’t think about the war.

"Click" a football like this one over to Northern Uganda!

In 2005 there is an urgent need to supply at least 300 additional footballs and netballs to the IDP camps in Gulu, and in a new camp program in Kitgum District due to start in January 2005.

For just $19.99, YOU can buy a football like this one online to send to an IDP Camp in Northern Uganda today! Delivery is included! Click here
